Hi Bill,
I got my Savage (a leftover '96) last March to celebrate my 51st birthday. I hadn't ridden in 20 years, so I guess I'd be considered a novice. My only regret is that I didn't get one sooner!
I put over 3,000 miles on it over the summer and I didn't even go anywhere.
Just get it....riding a Savage is pure FUN!
